We recovered daily visual Weather reports of Isahaya, a town close to Nagasaki. On basis of the correlation between snowfall ratio and January temperatures we could reconstruct from there diary the Nagasaki the winter temperatures 1700-1868, whereas official instrumental data only goes back to 1878.
